Winter Break

Leo has been working like crazy...so, in an effort to keep our sanity and refill our tanks, I have designated this past weekend and next as our winter break. So after work on Friday we headed up to the mountains for some serious R&R....however, you would not know it by how sore both of us are right now;) We started off the weekend with a bang eating at an Imel family favorite, the Hearthstone in Breckenridge. Deee-lish!! After we filled our bellies with yummy elk, scallops and vino we headed to the town center to check out the annual snow sculpture competition. It was really impressive what the teams created with just blocks of snow...HuGe blocks of snow... these were not your momma's snowmen.

Then we skied Keystone both days and had GoRgEoUs weather both days. It was so nice outside that we stayed out skiing until 8pm on Saturday for night ski (see soreness above). Night ski is where they light up the mountain, similar to night golf, so that you can see and ski at nighttime.

So after all of our extra practice we were felling pretty good about our skills and decided to give the Nastar race course a Mile High Sooner try. It brought back memories for me of my dad racing to get the gold every year and him putting me on the course when I was probably about 6, only to discover that I did not quite understand the whole racing concept when my family watched me try to go around every flag on the course. This year I did a bit better...me with my silver medal.
