He also stopped by the reindeer to have a little chat. He just wanted to make sure that they knew to remind Santa to deliver his presents to Oklahoma and not Colorado this year. Planning ahead.... I like it;)

Adrian's 2nd Visitors in Town

Grandma and Grandpa Seibold came in town to meet our little man this week. He loved his visitors and cannot wait to spend more time with everybody over Christmas... hopefully more awake during the day by then;)

Last night we attended the annual holiday party for Leo's physician group and Adrian wore what I consider to be a darling red longall by Petite Ami. However his dad thought that I need to dress him in more manly clothes....hello...I accessorized the longall with an OU beenie and socks! That screams tough! But oh well...

So this morning we tried to man it up a bit and, after putting on his headphones t-shirt, he decided that he wanted to be just like dad and tried his best at spinnin' some tunes down in the basement...right now he is more at my dj hero skill level though...practice young grasshopper:)

First family hike

We took advantage of a beautiful day yesterday and took Adrian up to outside of Boulder for his first hike. Leo threw out the option of a change of plans and taking Adrian to his first big 12 football game as we drove up in game day traffic (CU was playing Nebraska) but being the birthday girl I got to run the show;)

Adrian is getting to know 2 of his grandparents this week (aka Mimi and Papa). They are enjoying each other taking naps together, going on walks in the park, and just having a relaxing time:) Adrian even decided to bless Papa with a shower of pee this morning...That is when you know that you are in with the little man;)

This snow outfit makes me chuckle... I think he looks like Randy (Ralphie's little brother) from A Christmas Story because he cannot put his arms down... but he kept warm on the walk gosh darn it!

End of paternity leave:(

After over a week off my better half sadly had to return to the workforce this morning... Adrian has been drinking his sadness away (with heavy milk consumption that is). I think that the boys got some pretty good bonding time in over the past week and I am so grateful for all of his help while I recovered from surgery and pregnancy hormones;)

Adrian's first trip to the Doctor

Our little stud survived his first pediatrician office visit this afteroon and passed with flying colors. Just 5 days after arriving he is just 1 ounce short of his birth weight and, although we think he is well above average, his head and weight are sitting pretty in the 50th percentile ( I guess that he did not get his mother's head size:) )

Our baby boy is here!!

...and yes...he really does not have a name yet but we will keep you updated. He was born yesterday (the dreaded Friday the 13th;) ) at 12:37 in the afternoon by Cesarean section after we had been at the hospital for 40 hours already.... so we were really ready to meet the little guy. He weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and is 20 inches long...and is the best looking guy in the hospital but that is really neither here nor there.

The end is near... or the beginning... depending on how you look at it

Today Leo is busy doing a honey-do list around the house while I feel extremely lazy lying on the couch knitting. But the good news is that my days on bed rest are nearing an end.... and I am almost done with the cardigan that I am knitting for our guy as well (if I can try to find a sunny side to bed rest). That is right ladies and gents.... we are getting admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night for an induction....FiNaLLy!! So now that means that we have 4 days left to come up with a name for our little guy. Who would have thought that we would find a name so difficult... but I think that when we see him it will all become clear...Right?!? Now we are just hoping that he arrives on Thursday safe and sound so that he won't be born on Friday the 13th

Home stretch

As we are nearing the final days until we get to meet our little guy I am sadly getting to spend those days kickin' it in bed.... well, the couch downstairs but you get the idea. I decided to do a little blogging today because I feel that as the days of bed rest turn into weeks my hostility will be undeniable.... and lets get real... spontaneous labor this early would be a miracle. We are currently scheming ways to get my doctor to induce me next week but we will see how persuasive we can be.... or if my kidneys can come up with 50 more milligrams of protein to spill over to put me over the 300 mark.

But Leo always makes me laugh with how he puts a spin on things. In an effort to "help me get through this" he got us a playstation 3 with rockband and dj hero... because everyone that knows me knows that nothing makes me feel better than electronic games...especially electronic games with house music that you can spin;) But it was a lot of fun watching him set it all up last night and watch my country boy spin some tunes! Who knows... maybe I will give it a try and the student will finally become the master.

Getting ready for baby "S"

Sorry for my delayed blogging but driving over 10 hours back and forth to Oklahoma took its toll on this preggo lady. Many thanks to my patient driver that stayed calm, cool and collected as I snarled in the passenger seat on the drive back home. I have vague memories of randomly stating "I hAtE this!" a few times while in Kansas. I like to think of it as training for Leo for labor support;) But...getting to the point... we were home for 2 great reasons. For Leo the trip home was for Dove hunting/OU football and for myself it was for the baby shower to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our little guy with family and friends in Lawton.

The hostesses of the afternoon (minus stephanie).... Thanks again ladies for a great afternoon and for everyone who came to help us celebrate! We are very lucky to have so many people that care about our little guy. It is crazy to think that our next trip to Oklahoma will be with kiddo in tow!

My parents used the excuse of a Harley trip to come into town for another baby shower this past weekend... But being the kind daughter that I am I put them to work;) My dad got the honor of helping Leo paint the basement (I looks GREAT!) and my mom got to help make the curtains for the baby room (they also look spectacular)

Most of the pics from the shower are not on my camera so here is one pic from the afternoon of a few of the girls on the deck of the Cork House. And yes...the baby shower was at a wine bar:) Some may think odd...I think fitting!It was simply a great afternoon relaxing with the ladies sipping vino on a what turned out to be a beautiful day. Plus our little guy will always have a reason why he cannot quite seem to get any A's in math in school;) ...Just kidding folks! Thanks again Annika and Beth!!

Pingree Park Weekend

This past weekend Leo and I took the opportunity of a free weekend to go camping....quite possibly the last time camping for us until our tent will be occupied by 3;) Since I have the privilege of carrying our little guy Leo also let me pick what I wanted to do. After much thinking over the endless possibilities that CO offers I settled on a trip down memory lane and summers of Imel girls past....camping near Pingree Park. For those that are unaware of the former workplace of LJ and I, Pingree is a beautiful place that is at the dead end of a 16 mile dirt road off of the Poudre canyon that is a little slice of heaven. It is also the Colorado State mountain campus. No TV, no cell phones, no internet...just beautiful wilderness.

We started our weekend with Leo getting in a little fishing on the Poudre River while I cooked up lunch before heading up the dirt road. Even though it was mid-day and he was not expecting much Leo managed to catch his first rainbow trout...actually he caught 2 within a few minutes with alot of bites in between!! It was alot of fun to watch him in action:)

Then we headed up the road and ended at our camp for the weekend. We remembered the rain tarp this time but no tent stakes...nobody is perfect all the time I guess;)

After setting up camp and gathering wood for the night we went on a hike around the Pingree valley and I gave Leo a tour of the sites. Leo and I with the valley and Mummy pass in the background....can you see the mummy in the mountain?!

In the past Leo has always correlated camp cooking with hot dogs....So I had to open his mind to the options of camping culinary delights....the Foil pack!!! For those of you that are also in the dark about this tasty meal by a tent it is a packet that you can make with pretty much just about any combo of meat and veggies. We choose ground pork with potatoes, onions, mushrooms, squash, herbs, and carrots. You put all that in a packet that you make from aluminum foil....toss it in the fire....sit back and have a beer (root beer in my case) ...and before you know it you have a hot well rounded meal that is cooked to perfection. Leo is a self proclaimed foil packet convert!

The next morning we started off on our hike to Cirque Meadows. Here is the view looking back at the valley from the start of our hike.

Although I LOVE hiking and camping...doing these things in the 3rd trimester is sometimes a bit challenging. I think that my expression in this photo explains how I felt at times. But it was worth it! I would rather be in a little pain than spend our weekends on the couch any day.

As a final farewell from the valley, on our way back home we were delighted to spot a Mom Moose and her calf. We are always excited about wildlife sightings and this one was one for the books!

And Leo could not drive by the Poudre river on the way home without stopping to cast in just a few more times;) Leo caught a total of 3 trout this weekend. Here he is with the last trout that he caught....the first of many to come I am sure!

Does anyone else get excited for coming home to drywall?!?

Elk Mountain Hike

This morning Leo, Emily (fellow ophtho resident) and I went out for a hike at nearby Elm Mountain by 3 sisters outside of Evergreen. It was a beautiful day for a nice afternoon hike. Here is a pic of us at one of the lookout spots on the hike.

And if any of you have spoken with me this week you know that the excitement in my life (other than our huge baby that is) is our basement. It is like Christmas every day after work to go down there and see all the progress made. We are loving it and cannot wait to watch some college football down there! Below are pics of the guest room ceiling, the family room looking at the hallway to the bedroom, the staircase wall that was torn down this week, and the bathroom (that is right...your eyes do not fool...the bathtub is installed...pretty sweet).

...and yes...everyone will have to put up with my construction blog updates until the basement is done. Sorry, but I just love seeing our project get finished after what feels like so much planning.

And as our latest baby accomplishment for the weekend I am glad to say that the name list is down to the top 9....but my lips are sealed;)
