Vail Weekend

As our ski season is rapidly coming to an end we headed up to Vail last weekend for a mountain getaway before the slopes all close down.

They loved playing in the old gondola at the base of the mountain in Vail Village.

"All Aboard!"

Lorelei and I explored while the boys skied during the morning.  She really liked climbing on all of the ski chairs that were scattered throughout the village.

What finishes off a ski day better than a little s'more relaxation in a rocking chair in front of a fire.... perfection!

No pictures Mom...Can't you see I am busy!

My sweetie pie:)

The sugar high was already starting to kick in!!

Wintertime Fun

We are in the middle of, fingers crossed, our last winter storm in Denver which gives me some time to catch up on photos.  Here are a few from the last storms sledding extravaganza:)  Lorelei loved sledding and Adrian loved digging in the snow, building forts, and making tunnels

We went to Eldorado Canyon one day to see how the latest addition to our family, Tallulah aka Lula, liked hiking.  She loved it:)

Adrian managed to find a great tree stump to sit and take a load off for a few minutes at the turn around.

On our way back down a train made its way through the canyon if you can see it in the picture.  This was the perfect hike for two train loving kids!!!

Ski Weekend

This weekend (Presidents Day weekend....this post has been sitting in my file for a bit) Adrian got to hit the slopes for the first time.  He will not be hitting moguls any time soon but he had a great time on the bunny slopes and was smiles all the way down.  He even wanted to wear his ski boots and helmet to church in the morning;)

Gaining a little bit of speed with daddy
It is weird to watch Adrian get on a ski lift;)  When did he get so big?!

My little ski bunny enjoyed checking out all of the ski action and trying to decide if she wants to try boarding or skiing next season;)

I got to take in some night skiing one night and everybody met me at the end of the night for an evening gondola ride.  We timed it perfectly and got to watch the fireworks go off on the mountain during the ride.

Adrian loved checking out the snow fort at the top of the gondola ride... Lorelei just thought that it was cold:(

Yee-Haw!! It's Rodeo time!

It is January and if you live in Denver and are a "mile high sooner" that means one thing.... Stockshow season baby!!!

Our first stop was the petting zoo where my first encounter was a goat with the most beautiful name... Gretchen;)

Lorelei was grinning from ear to ear with all of the animals.  She is truly an animal lover:)

But daddy should have told her to pet their ears and not their bottoms;)
A stop by the John Deere section is always a must!

Rodeo baby!!

Adrian was very attentive to all of the cowboy action.  Lots and lots of questions from this 3 year old as per usual.  Rodeo is serious business!
She cannot wait for her next rodeo!!

Royal Gorge Santa Train

This past weekend we went down to the Royal Gorge train for a special train that was headed for the North Pole to pick up Santa:)

The kids ready with their train tickets before boarding the train.... you can barely see one of the engines lit up with Christmas lights in the background.  It was a very festive train! All of the kids on the train wore their pajamas:)

And here is one ExCiTeD passenger!!

We found our seats and got ready for the ride...

Exploring the decorations on the train....

Checking out the open air car on the train on the way to the North Pole....

....still pretty darn excited:)

They handed out hot chocolate and cookies to all of the passengers.  Lorelei's cookie was as big as her head...just the way she likes it:)

After a while we made it to the North Pole where Santa and his elves boarded the train to say hello to all the good boys and girls.

All eyes were on the look out for Santa

After he boarded Adrian heard that he was in the car next to ours and he was trying to catch a peek.

After a few minutes Santa made it to our train car and stopped to chit chat with all the kids aboard.  Lorelei gave him her list and said that she wanted milk for Christmas:)  That is probably the most appropriate response for my little milk hound!
Adrian also gave him his list and told him that he wanted a garbage truck.
Both kids must have been good this year because Santa gave them each a bell from his reindeer!

Adrian loves his special Santa bell!!

Lorelei was pleased as punch with her bell as well!

After Santa left Adrian was hammin' it up with one of Santa's elves.... it just happened to be a cute girl elf! :)

The royal gorge at night and a view of the train

Enjoying the open air car while in the gorge... and having a bit of fun with the camera

 Having a blast with daddy:)

And no trip to the north pole would be complete without a little sit down chit chat with Santa.... or just standing near by with a concerned look on your face if you are Lorelei;)
